In this project, I explore beyond the prevailing discourse on environmentalism to examine how our relationship with nature, especially forests, is shaped by mythology, science, and cultural narratives. Through photography, I crafted surreal-spiritual images that encourage the viewer to explore their connection with forests more deeply. These images are inspired by Jungian archetypes and symbols.
The Archetypes
Forest archetypes evoke either fear and distancing or calmness and connection. The Threatening, Tempting, Wild Forest
Embodies a complex realm where characters encounter moral dilemmas, face their deepest desires and fears, and struggle for survival amid its hostile and untamed wilderness. It serves as a multifaceted backdrop that can represent the darker, unknown aspects of nature and the human psyche, challenging individuals to navigate chaos, temptation, and a return to their primal instincts.Primeval, Healer, lover Forest
Realms of enchantment filled with magic and transformation, sacred spaces of spiritual rituals and divine connections, protective havens shielding characters and sacred relics, and increasingly as beloved entities that foster a deep, sensual relationship with the natural worldThe Conscious Forest
Embodies all the previous forest archetypes including the enchanted, threatening, lover forest. Connecting 'as' the conscious forest allows for a deeper understanding of the forest and our relationship with it. -
