In my series of selected works of landscapes and street photography, my work focuses on “The Misconceptions of the Southwest.” My photographs are taken around various parts of New Mexico, captured both digitally and as well as being developed and shot on black and white 35mm film. I seek to capture fleeting moments in time, offering both a unique and compelling perspective of the land and people of my home state. By abstracting my surroundings, I highlight the textures, colors, and history of the land. My aim is to reveal the candid diverse beauty of New Mexico in changing one’s perception by revealing the truth and beauty, and revealing the raw and honest emotions that stand in the contrast to popular stereotypes and misconceptions of the Southwest.
