The title "Okeanos" refers to the Greek deity whose flowing sea encircled the earth. Marking time's arrow as it moves inexorably forward. Always changing. Forever constant. Time itself made material. A reminder of both our own mortality and of the fathomless nature of an infinite universe as it drifts forever on. The ocean has always fascinated, inspired, and called to me on a personal, primal level. It has been my sanctuary and salvation. Its inherent contradictions. Its power and beauty. Sculpted forms made immortal by their impermanence. Fractal landscapes of infinite complexity, yet a simplicity of whole. Light and shape playing off each other in an endless dance. Shape and shapelessness. Serenity and violence. Peace and destruction. Endless and forever. My photography is an attempt to stop time. To steal a moment from the vast ocean of existence. It is this aspect of water, the duality of it seeming both time and timeless, permanent and infinitely fleeting, that perhaps is what keeps calling me back.
